Foundation
The Schweibenalp guest house was built in 1896 and acquired in 1982 by the Foundation for the Realisation of Truth, Simplicity and Love, later to be named the Schweibenalp Foundation. Between 2009 and 2011, Schweibenalp expanded its orientation with the new seminar room named “Peace” and the Alpine Permaculture project.
All people are welcome in the experiential space of the Schweibenalp living and working community.
In the beginning, the sponsors steadily developed this place with their own resources, tireless commitment and enthusiasm. In 2007, it took the courageous step of investing 5.15 million Swiss francs in the modernisation of the hotel, the construction of a new seminar house and the building of a greenhouse.
The sources of income from the seminar business, the sale of Alpine Permaculture products and various other activities are stable. Nevertheless, the income is not sufficient to make long-term amortisations, to cover the annual maintenance costs and to finance new projects. The Schweibenalp Foundation therefore needs funding to secure the project as a whole in the long term.
The commitment of the over 40-year-old project promotes the development of the individual, the community and the local environment culturally, ecologically and economically. Schweibenalp thus contributes to raising awareness of regional, national and global issues and is also actively involved in the areas of intercultural and religious understanding as well as peace work.
The Canton of Bern has recognised Schweibenalp as a charitable foundation because it is active in social, cultural, educational and health-promoting areas.
The Centre of Unity Schweibenalp is committed to the great ethical and philosophical-spiritual ideals such as sincerity, simplicity, freedom, education of the heart and love, and strives to practice and implement inner and outer peace in all areas of life.
